Since Timmy is in the 6th grade, he will become a member of the Majors division, so he will be required to pay a division fee of $55.00. The total price to pay for the 2008 season will be $65.00.

Later on, Timmy's sister Amanda also decides that she wants to play Softball. Since she is in the 4th grade, she will play on a team in the Rookies division. She will be assessed a fee of $55.00 to play for the 2008 season.

Team Parent(s)

Positive involvement from parents is crucial to a successful season.  Your positive attitude helps make the season run smoothly and ensures that everyone is able to take care of business and HAVE FUN! Each team needs a Team Parent!  Having a great Team Parent allows our volunteer coaches to concentrate on teaching and coaching our children in the game of baseball or softball.  Leaving the administrative tasks to others gives them more time to help our children grow in these sports. If you are interested in this position, please check this area on the registration form and tell your coach.

Team Parent(s) Below is a duties checklist for the team parent.  Please remember that these duties do not have to be performed by only one person.   Dividing the responsibilities makes everyone’s job easier.  The team parent is asked to ensure the following responsibilities are accomplished:

  1. Emergency Medical Release Forms.  Please collect for each player and review to ensure all information is complete. Give complete forms to the coach.
  1. Uniforms. Coordinate having names added to the back of the uniform shirts.
  1. Telephone Calls or Emails. Contact each player in the event of schedule (practices, games, etc.) changes.
  1. Opening Day Team Basket Fundraiser. Coordinate the construction and preparation of a team basket to be donated and raffled off during the opening day festivities.
  1. Picture Day. Collect picture envelopes with money from players and provide to the photographer.  Later in the season, distribute pictures upon receipt from photographer.
  1. Team Treats, Optional.  Alternatively, make snack and drink schedule assignments to for each game.
  1. Post Season Party, Optional.  A post season party is purely optional; make it a team decision.  If the team votes for a post season party, you may want to involve or invite the team sponsor.
  1. Coach’s Gift, Optional.  Again, this is optional; make it a team decision. If the team votes for a coach’s gift, it is usually presented at the final season game or post season party.
  1. Assistance to the Coach. Provide the best assistance to the coach, given the volunteer time you have available.

Fundraiser And Activities

After opening ceremonies, everyone can enjoy the games and activities, and the 'basket' fundraiser.  The 'basket' fundraiser and activities are located near the Clearcreek Park Concession Stand. Each team is requested to donate a basket with the total value of the contents being $100. The money raised from this basket raffle helps toward the paying for umpires, one or our largest expenses each season. The SCBA has the best umpires in the region, as anyone who has been involved in tournament play in other communities will have already noticed, and they cost. Obtaining corporate sponsors is the preferred method of assembling the baskets. This saves parents from having yet another expense. Our sponsors are listed on this website, therefore, you can visit other businesses in town who are not on the list but may be willing to help the program in another way. Below are some ideas on how to produce this basket:

  1. Decide on a theme and ask a local vendor(s) to donate items for the 'basket.' For example, a car wash basket with coupons and accessories donated by a car wash business.
    • An 'Italian' night: Ingredients for a great Italian dinner, gift certificates to Italian restaurants, etc.

    • Dayton Dragons: Tickets to a game(s), baseball souvenirs.

    • Night At the Movies:  Gift certificates from a video store, tickets from a movie theatre, popcorn, candy, drink, money for a babysitter.

  2. Decide on a theme and each member of the team donate an item.

  3. Contact a vendor and ask for one $100 value item to be donated. Previous years we have had bicycles donated as a basket.

Each basket will need a milk jug, with a hole cut out at the top, attached to the basket.  The milk jug will be the holder for tickets. The basket that receives the most bids (in the form of tickets) has, in the past, won a pizza party for the team submitting that basket!

By 9:00 a.m., Opening Day, all baskets are to be delivered to the fundraiser area.  After Opening Ceremonies, people wanting to bid on any basket(s) will purchase tickets to place in the milk jug attached to the basket.  The tickets must have a name and phone number included.
